What is seerah?

In the Arabic language, the term “Seerah” derives from the root word “Saara easier,” which linguistically conveys the notion of travel or embarking on a journey. When we delve into an individual’s Seerah, we delve into their profound voyage through life.

The importance of studying Seerah:

Studying the Seerah holds a multitude of compelling reasons, a few of which are:

-Gaining insights into the remarkable character of Prophet Muhammad, understanding his lifestyle, and witnessing his unwavering resilience in the face of life’s trials.

-Emulating Prophet Muhammad, who serves as a role model for all Muslims. He epitomizes the perfect exemplar for every facet of life, be it as a nurturing father, a devoted husband, a dutiful son, an inspiring leader, and numerous other roles.

Allah says: ﴾Indeed in the
Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the
Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much﴿ (Al-Ahzab:21);
Allah (the Almighty) says ﴾If you obey him, you shall be on the right guidance﴿
(Al-Noor:54); Allah also says ﴾He who obeys the Messenger, has indeed obeyed
Allah﴿ (Al-Nissa:80).
